How to close the box

Closing a carton box with packing tape is straightforward, but it’s important to do it properly to ensure the box remains secure during handling and transit. Here are the steps to follow:

Materials Needed

  • A sturdy carton box preferable our balikyban box, please order at our site
  • Packing tape (preferably wide, strong packing tape)
  • Scissors or a tape dispenser

Steps

  1. Prepare the Box:
  • Make sure the box is not damaged and is the appropriate size for the items you are packing.
  • Fold the bottom flaps of the box so they are flat and even.
  1. Seal the Bottom of the Box:
  • Tape along the center seam where the flaps meet, extending the tape at least 3-4 inches over the edges for a secure hold.
  • For added strength, apply another strip of tape perpendicular to the center seam, forming a „+“ shape.
  1. Pack the Box:
  • Place your items inside the box, ensuring they are well-protected with packing materials (e.g., bubble wrap, packing peanuts, or crumpled paper) to avoid movement during transit.
  1. Close the Top Flaps:
  • Fold the top flaps down so they lie flat and even.
  1. Seal the Top of the Box:
  • Apply a strip of packing tape along the center seam where the flaps meet, similar to how you taped the bottom. Extend the tape beyond the edges by 3-4 inches.
  • To ensure the box remains securely closed, apply two more strips of tape perpendicular to the center seam, forming a „+“ shape.
  1. Reinforce the Edges (Optional but Recommended):
  • For extra security, especially for heavier or fragile items, apply additional strips of tape along the edges where the top and bottom flaps meet the sides of the box.

Tips

  • Use a high-quality packing tape that is at least 2 inches wide. Thinner or lower-quality tape may not provide adequate strength.
  • Ensure the box flaps are flat and aligned before applying tape to avoid gaps.
  • If using a tape dispenser, it can speed up the process and help achieve a more even application of tape.

By following these steps, you can ensure your carton box is securely closed and ready for shipping or storage.
